The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC)

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) commemorates the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the two world wars. They care for their graves or commemorate them on memorials to the missing.

The CWGC casualty database records the details of Commonwealth war dead so that their place of burial or commemoration can be located in cemeteries or memorials in some 153 countries, from Albania to Zimbabwe. It also records the details of 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died “as a result of enemy action” in the Second World War.
